A nice Kiwi I met on the plane from LA suggested Devonport as a relaxing place to spend a day outside of downtown, so some new German friends I met at the hostel & I headed out to see what we could find…

It is only a short ferry ride from Auckland but was a nice
quiet place to meander through suburban homes and streets lines with cafes.
Short walks up to North Head & Mt. Victoria had amazing views and nice
grassy patches. The wind was a bit on the intense side but the windsurfers on
Cheltenham Beach seem to enjoy it.J
There were a number of cafes and shops along Victoria Road
that were quite inviting but $4.50 for 1 scoop of ice cream was enough to make
us think twice.  |
